Pomegranate Orange Cream Tart
The solution for your next special occasion solved! This dessert is as delicious as it is beautiful, and makes the perfect centerpiece to any holiday table!
Hats off BHG! Hands down, I love to cook, and I can likely count on one hand how many times I’ve ever followed a recipe. To me, cooking is love, and I use ingredients that speak to me-usually resulting in a tasty dish…usually 🙂 But when it comes to baking, I feel like I should be wearing chemistry googles and beaker tubes. This is no place to mess around with guesswork, and for that, I leave recipes to the professionals and follow them closely! When I opened my mail to find this BHG magazine, I was instantly struck by the sheer beauty of this dessert and determined to try it. It was way beyond your typical pie and a very fun creative challenge that I would highly recommend! You can find the recipe here.
The verdict. I knew that gelatin would take time to cool, so luckily I started this early on in the day (this was a New Year’s treat). I would highly suggest paying close attention to the time requirements because almost every step had a process then a cool down time, and with each layer done individually, it added some complexity that I hadn’t factored in. While the pomegranate gelatin layer calls for 40 minutes to chill, I felt that was about 10 minutes too long. It seemed a little counterintuitive to chill something to then have to heat it up again in order to pour. For a deeper flavor, I also added a little more orange zest to the cheese layer and a slight squeeze of the orange, which in my opinion, was very welcomed. Overall, I would give this recipe a great review! It was fun to make, artistic to decorate, and the flavors were sophisticated and mouth watering! I would say tester kitchen approved, but the fact that two pies were gone within an hour speaks for itself!
Let me know if you try this out! Make any alterations?! I’d love to hear from you!
