Smoky Bacon Wrapped Shrimp

Smoky Bacon Wrapped Shrimp

Whether looking for a fun appetizer or finger food for the next party, these bite sized shrimp are a crowd pleaser!

Too much of a good thing… An American favorite has come to be bacon wrapped around, well, just about anything! These shrimp are no exception, and the salty meat brings a great flavor to this finger food. But, there is obviously a size difference between a strip of bacon and your shrimp. While more bacon may sound good, in the cooking process, if too much is wrapped around the shrimp, the result is floppy bacon that can get chewy. I’d suggest cutting each strip in half or thirds to just fit once around, and give a crisp edge without overwhelming the whole bite!

Many ways to the finish line. The concept of this dish is to provide a tasty finger food, that can be used as an appetizer, topping on a fun salad (strawberry spinach?), or meal in itself! But how we get there could be very different. I used a baking sheet, which may require more flipping to get the same crispness that you might get in an air fryer, or seared in a skillet. Whatever you have to work with, just make sure the inside shrimp cooks all the way through and you make enough to go around!

  • 1/4 tsp Cumin
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Onion Powder

Instructions

  • Cut bacon in thirds (depending on sizes used for each protein-the bacon should easily wrap around the shrimp but little extra).
  • In mixing bowl, dry off shrimp and season with smoked paprika, cumin, onion and garlic powders, salt and pepper. Toss well to coat.
  • Take each piece of bacon and wrap around the shrimp, laying in the baking dish, or air fryer tray. Sprinkle with a little more smoked paprika.
  • Bake at 350 for 30 minutes, finishing the last minute or so on broil, until bacon is a bit crisp.
  • Remove and set on paper towel to absorb extra liquid. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
