Parmesan and Garlic Roasted Green Beans
For your fancy meals or your picky eaters, this green bean recipe combines a creamy base with a sharp parmesan cheese to create a delicious dish that is sure to please all!
Timing is everything! I have a growing love affair happening in my kitchen. It happens to be with a sleek, shiny, and very stately silver fox…also known as the air fryer. I’m not here to endorse a product, but man, this has taken any baking or roasting to the next level! For this particular dish, I chose a small square baking dish that fits inside the air fryer, and when turned on to 350, these beans cook for about 8 minutes for a perfect golden brown. Of course the same can be accomplished in the oven, but often in 20-25 minutes time. If you are trying to time this side dish with a main course, whichever method you choose is important so it comes out perfectly cooked with your meal!
Try a little tenderness… With many experimental recipes, there are always options based on your preferences. One of these is textures. I prefer a little crunch to my vegetables, validating the quality and freshness of them vs a canned variety. To me this feels a bit more…homemade? That being said, there is a time and place for a soft and creamy vegetable dish that is oh so comforting (and possibly a bit more kid friendly). If this feels like your household, prior to adding any toppings to the beans, toss them in a sauce pan and lightly steam for about 5 minutes until al dente, then continue with the recipe as written below. The result will be a much softer consistency and a great answer to ‘eat your vegetables’ at the dinner table!
Do you have a tried and true side dish for all of the eaters at your table? I’d love to hear from you!

Parmesan and Garlic Roasted Green Beans
Equipment
- Kitchen knife
- Small Bowl
- Baking Dish
- Air Fryer (optional)
Ingredients
- 1 bunch Green Beans (about 3 inch diameter)
- 1 tsp Butter
- 1 tsp Olive Oil
- 2 tsp Mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese
- 1 clove Garlic
- 1/2 tsp Oregano
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Trim and wash green beans and lay inside the baking dish.
- In a bowl, melt butter until soft but not fully liquid. Add in olive oil, minced garlic and oregano. Mix well.
- Stir in mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Fold in about 2/3 of the parmesan cheese.
- Pour mixture over the green beans, spreading fairly evenly across all. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
- If using the air fryer, place baking dish in and cook for about 7-8 minutes, until lightly golden on top. The same process can be done in a conventional oven, but adjust for a longer cooking time.
- Remove and let cool for a minute before scooping onto a serving dish. Garnish with fresh parsley and additional parmesan if desired. Enjoy!
